Kids Sunglasses

Filed under: Prescription Sunglasses — admin @ 3:24 am

You may always protect your eyes from the sun’s glare with the help of sunglasses, but it ultimately important for kids, because kids spend much more time outdoors than most adults do. Sunglasses are apt to block 100 percent of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays for children.

In fact, many experts believe our eyes get 80 percent of their total lifetime exposure to the sun’s UV rays by age 18. Children under 10 are more at risk for eye damage from the sun’s rays than pre-teens and teens. With more sun exposure comes more eye problems that can cause loss of vision later in life. Additionally, without prescription sunglasses, the delicate skin that surrounds your child’s eye is at an increased risk of sun exposure. So it’s never too early for kids to begin wearing good quality sunglasses outdoors. parents should make sure that children over the age of three wear sunglasses as a matter of course in sunny weather, and that there was a danger of cataracts and other eye problems in later life if they didn’t. All children should be taught to wear sung. All children should be taught to wear sunglasses, especially between 10 AM and 2 PM, when ultraviolet exposure is the most dangerous. (more…)
